This October, Habitat for Humanity of South Central New Jersey will partner with Benebone to host a neighborhood repair and clean-up event called Rock the Block!
Rock the Block events showcase Habitat’s Neighborhood Revitalization Initiative, which brings people together to improve the quality of life of residents in targeted neighborhoods through home repairs, community projects, and accessibility installations.
Habitat SCNJ held our first ever Rock the Block here in Hamilton and we are back for another. Successful events only happen when the community partners together and that is exactly what Hamilton does! Mayor Jeff Martin and the town are making this event the best one yet and Pastor Woods of Saint Phillips Baptist Church bridges the connection to the local members of the community.
Volunteers
At Rock the Block, we anticipate 100 individuals – Benebone employees, township employees, members of the community, and loyal Habitat volunteers – to come out and care for their neighbors. Volunteers will complete home preservation projects like clearing away debris, removing overgrown brush, mulching and landscaping, painting, mending fences, and fixing porches. No skills are necessary to lend a helping hand. Each project will be led by a Habitat staff or skilled volunteer.
Habitat for Humanity and Benebone partnership!
Rock the Block in Hamilton has been made possible thanks to major contributions from Benebone and its employees. The company is celebrating 10 years of providing dogs with high-quality, durable chews by ensuring that community members have homes that are places of safety, comfort and positive well-being for humans and pets alike. Since 2021, Benebone has put much of their time, care, and contributions into Mercer County, working alongside Habitat SCNJ to bring new affordable homeownership opportunities to local families in need. Now, the team at Benebone is taking their commitment to affordable, sustainable housing and communities even further by sponsoring and volunteering at Rock the Block!
BLOCK PARTY — Everyone’s Invited!
Even if they are not receiving repairs during Rock the Block, community members are encouraged to use the bulk dumpsters dispersed throughout the area for their own cleaning project and join everyone at the resource fair and Block Party!
From 3:30-5:30PM, residents can peruse tables set up by community organizations and local businesses that will provide information on resources and services. Activities for kids of all ages will be available, including rock decorating, face painting, balloon animals, dessert trucks and more – all free to enjoy!
