This September, Habitat for Humanity of South Central New Jersey will partner with Wells Fargo to host a neighborhood repair and clean-up event called Rock the Block!
Rock the Block events showcase Habitat’s Neighborhood Revitalization Initiative, which brings people together to improve the quality of life of residents in targeted neighborhoods through home repairs, community projects, and accessibility installations.
Habitat SCNJ has worked collaboratively with communities in the past like Atlantic City, Mt. Holly, Palmyra, and Hamilton to host Rock the Block and deliver repairs to local homeowners, provide access to community programs at the resource fair, and engage residents of all ages with activities. Now, we’re looking to make a big impact on just one day down the shore by repairing 10 homes in Camden City!
Volunteers
At Rock the Block, we anticipate 100 individuals – Wells Fargo employees, members of the community, and loyal Habitat volunteers – to come out and care for their neighbors. Volunteers will complete home preservation projects like clearing away debris, removing overgrown brush, mulching and landscaping, painting, mending fences, and fixing porches. No skills are necessary to lend a helping hand. Each project will be led by a Habitat staff or skilled volunteer.
Wells Fargo Welcome Home Partnership
Wells Fargo and its employees are showing their commitment to affordable, sustainable housing and communities by sponsoring and volunteering at Rock the Block! Their contributions are a part of a Wells Fargo initiative called Welcome Home, whereby Wells Fargo employees work with local organizations to ensure safe homes and communities for everyone, by providing home repairs that allow residents to remain safe and healthy in their homes. Throughout the month of September, Wells Fargo employees will participate in volunteer events like this one in Camden!
BLOCK PARTY — Everyone’s Invited!
Even if they are not receiving repairs during Rock the Block, community members are encouraged to use the bulk dumpsters dispersed throughout the area for their own cleaning project and join everyone at the resource fair and Block Party!
From 3:30-6:00PM, residents can peruse tables set up by community organizations and local businesses that will provide information on resources and services. Activities for kids of all ages will be available, including rock decorating, face painting, balloon animals, food & dessert trucks and more – all free to enjoy!
